Who Puts the Maude in Maude’s Herbal Infusions?

Is There a Maude? That’s a funny question, like, “Is there a Santa Claus?” There might be more than one answer. It just might depend on who’s asking.
Is there really a Maude? Sure, she’s a real person. But, Maude could also be a Place – or a Spirit. Maybe anyone could be Maude. You could be Maude! I hope you are.
However, to determine once and for all if there is a Maude we consulted a panel of experts. Here are some of the answers we got:
Atticus Finch – Miss Maudie was our neighbor and a fine woman. I can attest to that. Now go wash up for supper, Scout.
My Mother – Oh yes, Maude was what we used to call a real character. That was back before people took medication to prevent them from having a personality! Maude loved Life, plain and simple. What’s wrong with that?
Trout Fishing In America – Maude and I fished up on the Santiam in ’44. I love the old gal. If she is selling tea, I’m sure it’s top notch. Drink some. Give it to the babies. Feed it to the fish! It’s all connected.
Ken Kesey – Sure I knew Maude! She was around the Oregon Country Fair from the beginning. People used to come see her in the back of the Roll On Egg Rolls booth. She liked being at the junction, in the middle of everything. Maude loved people, the more the better. And just seeing her made people love themselves more.
Mother Theresa – Maude showed me the simple power of Nourishing the people. It’s the Nourishment that sustains. God Bless You Maude.
Walt Whitman – I Sing the Praises of Maude! Oatstraw! Nettles! Dancing!
Susan B. Anthony – A vote for Maude is a vote for Life! Vote, and be glad you can!
Cat Stevens gave his answer in a song, and as songwriters have a tendency to do, he told it from Maude’s point of view:

At Maude’s Herbal Infusions we believe in Maude. Every day we connect, nourish and celebrate life in her honor, doing our best to pass on a tradition. We invite you to join us.
Our goal is to make more and more opportunities to connect with other Maude spirits and share the celebration of Maude. This celebration should eventually lead us to a full-fledged shop, maybe even a series of shops, around Portland, Oregon. Our first location is to be determined but we’re thinking somewhere near SE Clinton or SE Division. We’ll keep you posted on that part.
