On the Brink of Change

19th January, 2009 - Posted by Maude -

Dear Maude,

OH BOY, I just checked one of those online Bush countdown timers and we only have a few hours left of the Bush presidency! It hardly seems possible.

Last night in my living room I watched the big “We Are One” Obama concert at the Lincoln Memorial, and my tears just ran and ran and ran the entire two hours without stopping.

Did someone put hallucinogens in my peppermint tea, or did I actually see people singing Bob Marley’s “One Love” at an official presidential inaguration event?

Did I actually see a white country music star take off his cowboy hat and bow to two beautiful black girls who are moving into the White House tomorrow — and then sing,

“When the last thing we notice is the color of skin
And the first thing we look for is the beauty within
When the skies and the oceans are clean again
Then we shall be free”

– did I really see that?

And was that our President-Elect, striving to maintain a statesmanlike appearance while obviously overjoyed to have Stevie Wonder just a few yards away, singing “Highest Ground” for him?

The President likes Stevie Wonder!

The President wants to reach his highest ground.

Is this real?

Thank you so much for your message Alyce. I will forward this on to Maude for you. She is back East, of course. I expect we will hear from her soon. I believe she is visiting old friends who may have a message for us on the topic.

Our president likes Stevie Wonder…yet another reason to love him. Today is a happy day for all of us. I am counting my blessings.
